South Broadway Press is a publisher of poetry through books, print journals, and on our online journal.

Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a platform through poetry, writing, and the arts for ideas that provide alternatives to the harmful systems and ideologies that we historically have and continue to live among. We are interested in work that points us towards symbiosis with not just other humans, but with all beings in this moment, all beings past, and those future beings that will be impacted by the choices we collectively, and individually, make today. We focus our attention on love as a guiding force. Not a love that only reactively supports those who have been afflicted by oppression, but a love that is willing to disrupt, disobey, and proactively prevent and redirect the potential forthcoming affliction around us. A love that is resolute in its boundaries for itself and others. A love that takes the form of dissent, resistance, and in the words of John Lewis, a love that is willing to “get into good trouble”.

Our Seal
Our seal is the Bear, the Wrench, and the Quill.
The Bear as a symbol of balancing softness with strength. The Bear as a call to approaching the caves of our internal worlds with curiosity. To slow living, and to laying witness to ourselves as not just material beings walking this Earth, but celestial beings, such as the great bear that graces the winter sky above us.
The Wrench as a symbol of disruption. A willingness to throw a wrench into the gears of fascism.
The Quill as a reminder of the adage that “the pen is mightier than the sword”, and a calling to approach our work and play with that integrity and power in mind.
Our seal is also a nod to Mutiny Information Cafe, a bookstore, coffee shop, and community hub for over ten years now. A space that has time and again proved home for the cultivation of revolutionary ideas and the soft hearts that hold them.
